Therapies - Cranio Sacral for Babies and Children |
|
There has been a great deal of publicity recently about the value of Cranio Sacral Therapy for babies and children. Their systems respond very effectively to this form of therapy and it is extremely valuable in the problems to do with colic, suckling, hearing etc., and problems related to birth process. Babies and children can receive dysfunctions from forceps or suction delivery. CST helps to realign bones and tissues after a traumatic delivery, and is also helpful with premature births, getting the suckling action going and reducing stress and anxiety from the birth process. Emotional trauma to the body creates energy blockages. CST is able to help with unblocking and clearing blocked energy. Mums also benefit from treatment during pregnancy i.e.: - assists opening of pelvic area. It is relaxing and calming for those who find pregnancy stressful. Treatment after birth helps the pelvis to be re- aligned and muscle, tissue and nervous systems are soothed and assisted for a quicker recovery. It is helpful with all ages: evaluation of newborns and children after traumatic birth, learning difficulties, Dyslexia, Dysfraxia, and attention deficit problems etc., CST helps to realign bones and tissues after birth. “ Every child should have a CST treatment. If every child was treated with CST a lot of dysfunctions that happen at birth could be rectified” Dr. J. Upledger – pioneer of the CST and emotional release therapy |

Misalignments during pregnancy, labour and emotional trauma can leave children with imbalances that can be with them throughout their lives. CST can help to correct misalignments and emotional disorders. CRANIO SACRAL THERAPY is rapidly gaining recognition as one of the most gentle and yet powerful forms of holistic healing. It is used to detect and correct imbalances in the craniosacral system, which may be the cause of sensory, motor or intellectual dysfunction. The way the baby lies within the uterus determines the ultimate pattern of the spine, which can create tension, i.e.: -between kneecap and hip. As the baby grows there is less room for it to move and baby can become cramped into postures that could lead to misalignments i.e.: shoulder/arm The folding of the full-term baby in the uterus creates normal facial tensions, resulting in localized thickenings of connective tissue that will have a bearing upon the alignment and posture of the child, that can also continue into the structure of the adult. Impacted areas such as between the shoulder blades, or across the top of the pelvis will cause the posture to change and the body will adapt to shoring itself up against stresses of weight and constrictions. As the baby learns to use its body it has many options. As it grows older, this wide-open range of options narrows in favor of greater precision of movement. The birth process is an extraordinary condition; the infant is experiencing a total change in environment and has no established ways of dealing with the situation. New stimuli, because they are new, are magnified in their import both physically and emotionally. It is a truism of psychology that what we learn under panic conditions is with us for life. The cultural, rather than physiological, part of the birth process can cause traumatic sensory attack, such as being held upside down under bright lights. This can induce structural contractions or sensory shutdown that may never go away. Colic is one of the signs that fascia is out of balance. A distressed or anxious child is another sign of misalignments and emotional trauma. The craniosacral system consists of the membranes and cerebrospinal fluid that surround and protect the brain and spinal cord. It extends from the bones of the skull, face and mouth, which make up the cranium, down to the sacrum or tailbone area. Cranio Sacral Therapy treats people rather than conditions. It is primarily concerned with creating a healthy balanced state on all levels – physical, mental and emotional The term “Birth Trauma” has considerable emotional impact. From a physiological point of view the actual passage need not be structurally damaging. There might be some difficulty because of the size of the head and shoulders, yet this should be transitory. However a prolonged period of labor may be a source of tension to the newborn. |

Treats motor coordination difficulties, eye problems and central nervous system disorders, learning disorders, Traumatic births, forceps, suction delivery and in the birth canal too long. How does it work? When treating newborns, in most cases it only takes one or possibly two treatments to realign the body after birth. The infant lies on a treatment table fully clothed and the Therapist makes gentle contact by placing the hands lightly on the body, as well as the head and spine. Craniosacral therapy is safe, simple, yet very powerful and effective. Small movements are made to the head and body to enable the body to realign by itself without trauma to the bones, tissues and ligaments. In the process it helps eliminate symptoms, diseases, dysfunctions and their root causes. Relaxing and calming to the body, some even feel sleepy during treatment. For children with learning difficulties, Dyslexia, Dysfraxia, and attention deficit problems etc., it will depend upon how chronic the condition is as to how many treatments would be necessary. |
